Native vegetation and planning permits

North East Ecology offer detailed knowledge of the provisions for native vegetation and offsets under Victoria’s planning laws (Planning and Environment Act 1987). We can provide guidance on all native vegetation permit applications to local government authorities. Since planning requirements changed in December 2013, applications now need to include a Biodiversity assessment report, or a Biodiversity impact and offset requirements report. These reports are generated by DELWP but the correct site information about native vegetation must be provided by the applicant.

We can also provide a land management or conservation plan, to support subdivision or other development applications, as required.

Other relevant biodiversity legislation is also considered in our reports, including national environment law (Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999), Victoria’s Flora and Fauna Guarantee Act 1988 and the weed control requirements of Victoria’s CaLP Act (Catchment and Land Protection Act 1994).
