Net gain assessment, or calculation, is based on the results of the ecological assessment. It determines the potential loss of native vegetation associated with a project or development, and what offsets would be required to compensate for those losses.
Knowledge of net gain is also necessary for new offset sites, which may be available on the same property or under the same management as the development (first party offset). The new offset site can then be matched against the offsets that will be required to fulfil planning permit conditions.
Alternatively offsets can be purchased (third party offset). We can also assist with any purchase arrangements.
